How to Get to the Red Hills Desert Garden

The Red Hills Desert Garden is located about an hour and a half northwest of downtown St. George, Utah. You can get there by car, bus, or plane. If you’re driving from Salt Lake City, it will take you about 3 hours to get there, and it’s about a 4-hour drive from Las Vegas. If you’re coming from St. George, it’s about an hour drive north. You can also fly into the nearby city of Cedar City, Utah and rent a car there.

Things to Know Before Visiting the Red Hills Desert Garden

Don’t Touch the Plants – The desert garden is loaded with beautiful and fascinating desert plants. While you’re allowed to touch the plants, you’re not allowed to damage or move any of them. So be gentle! Wear Comfortable Shoes – You’ll be walking through the desert garden and visiting the archaeological sites. You’ll want to wear comfortable shoes so you can be flexible and mobile in the desert landscape.  Travel Light – You’ll want to bring as little as possible because you’ll be walking through the desert landscape.
